Formica di Grosseto
The Formiche di Grosseto (Grosseto Ants) are four submarine mountains in the section of sea between the Isola d'Elba and the Isola del Giglio. Only three of them reach the surface forming a very small island (the Large Ant) and two rocks (the Middle Ant and the Little Ant). Only the Large Ant, equipped with a beacon for aiding the navigation, can be seen from the coastline, but only with favorable atmospheric conditions, as in this winter sunset. |
