Castelmarino Tower

A typical element of the landscape in the Uccellina Range are the sight towers. They were built in order to signal the arrival of the Saraceni pirates that in ancient times haunted the Tyrrhenian Sea, plundering the villages on the coast. The ruins of the Castelmarino Tower, in the northern part of the park, dominate an immense sea of pines that extend, to north, up to the mouth of the Ombrone river.
